March 1, 2016

I've enrolled in Capstone 1 which will take place in May. That's 4 months away from the CFE.

So if you're already aware, Capstone 1 prepares you for Day 1 of the CFE. The CFE is a 3-day exam.

Since I've started this blog I've come to understand a few new things.

1) There is such a thing as a CFE Gold Medalist. And I'm not surprised to hear that multiple medalists were just aiming to pass. Personally I didn't aim to pass the exams leading up to the CFE. I aimed to be the best! And putting my time and effort into being the best helped me pass. I think anyone who writing the CFE should aim to be a gold medalist. Let's ensure our "pass" people! I don't think anyone would should aim to just pass so here's the mindset: GOLD MEDALIST. Now what does that mean? Here's an example of what one gold medalist's study schedule was like: 3 months before the exam they studied from 8 AM to 4 PM sharp. They left time to exercise and time to relax on weekends. They also worked in Public accounting. So, there's 1 example. In all the other gold medalist examples I read, a lot of them had people from their accounting firm giving them feedback on the cases they wrote. So have someone to give you feedback! Preferably someone similar to those actually marking our CFE exams.

2) As I said in my last post: have a Lean Manufacturing approach: Get all your distractions out of the way and get focused on that exam! If there's something you think you'll need to get done before the exam date (get it done now, so you can focus your efforts later).

So, that's all for now. Sooner or later I'll be reporting back here on my journey to pass the CFE. I'll do my ultimate best. That's generally what's been working so far. So let's aim to be a CFE Gold medalist shall we? :)
